My part of the project was to research on social networking sites that can help create awareness of Hospice Care Association (HCA). During this research, I’ve found the top ten social networking sites and statistics for each site.

Figure taken from TopTenREVIEWS

From the figure above, it can be seen that the top 5 social networking sites are Hi5, Friendster, Bebo, MySpace and Facebook.

I’ve research on these top 5 sites and found out that Hi5 is only popular in United States, therefore, I did not compare Hi5 with the rest of the sites.

#4 Friendster

The figure above shows the number of people visiting Friendster daily.

Friendster is a social networking site that used to be popular in both Asia and the United States, but now, it is only popular in Southeast Asia.

However, the figure shows that from 2009 to 2010, the daily visits for Friendster have been decreasing. Therefore, Friendster will not be recommended to create awareness for Hospice.

#3 Bebo

The figure above shows the number of people visiting Bebo daily.

Bebo is a social networking site that is popular, however, most of it’s content are targeted towards the United States.

Looking at the figure, it can be seen that, like Friendster, the daily visits for Bebo is decreasing since before 2009. Therefore, Bebo will also not be recommended.

#2 MySpace

The figure above shows the number of people visiting MySpace daily.

MySpace is popular in both Asia and the United States. In the past, before Facebook was founded, MySpace was the top social networking site. However, in recent years, MySpace started losing to Facebook.

The figure above shows that the daily visits for MySpace is dropping as well, therefore it is also not recommended.

#1 Facebook

The figure above shows the number of people visiting Facebook daily.

Comparison

Unlike the first 3, Facebook is the only social networking site that has an increasing amount of daily visits, therefore it is the best social networking site to create awareness for Hospice.
